Procrastination……the worst trait ever!

So yea, hey everyone! It has been over 3 months since my last post…..whoops! This all goes along with the theme of this post. Today I read one of my all time favorite blogs and asked myself, “Why aren’t you blogging?” The answer is I really don’t have a good reason except that I kept telling myself I didn’t have the time. I DO however have the time and there are a bunch of areas I have to stop procrastinating in and start getting real with myself. Blogging is one of those things but will not be in the list as I pay for my own blog and entertain the world for free. No one pays me to run the blog so its just for my fun and sanity! So without further procrastination here goes the list.

Oh wait….you have to wait just a bit longer. Let me explain a big reason of why I haven’t been doing the things I want to as much lately. Pregnancy! If you missed our Facebook announcement Dan and I are expecting baby K #2 in April 2015 and are really excited. However afternoon naps sound way better than other things I have to do and Camden snuggles and lazily watching tv are great BUT I have to get moving. Here is the announcement photo before the list. We took it in the parking lot at work with my mom, were photo professionals I know!


Now to the list:

1. RUNNING and Nutrition.

I’m sure you are all thinking why worry about running while you’re pregnant and I usually wouldn’t. However this pregnancy I have two weekend long race events! In January I have a 5k, 10k, and half marathon in three back to back to back days. I will be six months pregnant. In February I have the same thing, at 7 months pregnant! Both Disney races. (Note my Dr is perfectly fine with this and it is safe for the baby has I have run and trained in advance and kept it up after Camden was born) So it is time to start training more. It is easy to do 1 mile runs, but that isnt going to carry me to the finish line. Also I have a clear plan. The 5k’s are not timed so I will most likely walk those and most of the 10k and I will walk run the half marathon. If you read my post about Princess Half Marathon when I was pregnant with Camden you know I said I would never do it again at 4 months pregnant and yet here I am doing it at 6 and 7 months, yes I am crazy and yes I love to run!!!!

My nutrition needs to be stepped up as well. When I was pregnant with Camden and the first few months after I had an undiagnosed thyroid condition and gained a lot of weight/had a lot of swelling and extra fluid. So I am trying to lose weight during this pregnancy. Not 10lbs a month or anything crazy like that, but each appointment I have been down 2-3lbs from the previous one. Again the Drs are fine with this and encouraging it in my goal to not have another c-section. This is a little easier than the running as long as I am making time to do it. Listen I love sleep as much as the next person but its time to go to bed earlier and get up at 6am everyday and run and prepare meals. Tiring but worth it! Plus it will prepare me for the early days baby #2 is bringing back to our lives. Camden sleeps until 8-9am.

2. Scentsy

Another reason I haven’t been blogging is Scentsy. I have been working so hard at this since Camden was born and it is showing! My team has grown in one year from 3 people to 12, and my commission has tripled in a year! I know that doesn’t sound like I am slacking my days off from my fulltime job I do events and parties. BUT there are aspects I want to get better in because it can only help so I am working towards that!

That is actually pretty much it. Surprisingly with a one year old I have been keeping the house pretty clean, I have been way more organized than before and everything else manages to run itself/fall into place. I am lucky that way, well I also have Dan too. He is my secret weapon! Now that I am in my 2nd trimester and my pregnancy brain isn’t as bad, (it was pretty rough there for a while) I can get down to business and get things done! So I will end this post with a bunch of fun pictures, after all its been 3 months!

So my last post was about St. Patrick’s Day, but the one before that was from Febraury so its time we catch up so I can make current daily posts!

So what’s going on with us?

DAN: Dan went back to work Monday, while I am still off until April 1st. Camden and I are missing him but glad tomorrow is his day off!!! His birthday is March 31st, the big 2-9, so last night we went out to dinner and saw Book of Mormon at the Bushnell. We loved it! I had bought the tickets for Christmas knowing it would be part of his birthday expeditions! My question for anyone who has seen it also, how many pissed off people were there? At our show there were so many! I don’t think many people researched the show, what it was about, or that Trey Parker wrote it (he created South Park if you didn’t know), of course it was going to be inappropriate.

In other Dan news he is happy, yet sad it is Spring. He bought a new to him snowmobile a couple of weeks ago so its bittersweet. BUT he can ride his dirt bike around now without its snow tires and that is pretty exciting! His racing season is going to start soon for his dirtbike I am so excited, especially since now Camden can watch and realize whats going on better than the last race he was at!

ALEX: That’s me, but if you didn’t know that you must be a new reader so welcome!!! Today I am signing up for my next half marathon, it is in April! I haven’t ran more than a mile since I have been home from Florida and I am craving a run, so having a race to do will keep me training! I haven’t ran a lot only because once I got home I had a terrible cold and it kept going around the house! It appears we have all finally defeated the cold! (Knock on wood)

In other news for me my Scentsy business is going amazing! My goal this year is to recruit and help as many people as possible reach their goals with Scentsy. It can be done, I initially joined to use the extra money for my car payments and use my regular salary for bills and fun. Now however with 2 years left on the loan, my car is almost paid off and Dan and I will start being able to make double mortgage payments. Plus my credit card debt is almost zero!!! Pretty amazing stuff, all from an electric warmer and some wax, who would have thought!

The food in the background of the picture was for breakfast the next morning, I have been food prepping because I am on an eating plan to coincide with my training. Since I had Camden I have lost 40 pounds! I have about 15 left until I am to my pre-pregnancy weight! Since I have been on the plan I have lost 10lbs which was great that even being sick/too lazy to meal prep some days I have kept it off!

Plus Dan has devised a reward system for me, each Monday I weigh in and tell him what I weigh. Then depending on how much I have lost I get to eat an Oreo per pound! I love Oreos and Dan bought me two packs and hid them.

Finally Camden and Finny: Our little boys! First we start with the oldest, Finny!

Finny needs a haircut, I have to get him to the groomer, but as Camden gets older they play more and have a great time. They are best friends.


Camden: Let’s all notice Camden in the above picture, his abilities are starting to concern me! He turned 7 months yesterday and has been on the move for about a month, he crawls, he rolls and now he does this….


This was an interesting turn of events as I left him lying on the blanket playing with his toys, I came back from doing my makeup and this happened….oh no!!! Yesterday he was at my grandmas and was standing against her ottoman, he took a few steps towards a chair and then fell over. PLEASE DON’T WALK YET!

Currently he is lying behind me on the couch, pulling my hair and proud of himself that he can get his own bib on and off now. He’s pretty cute! However since he has been sick he has also been sleeping a lot.

So that is basically what has been going on with us in the past month, not too much but fun, hobbies and love. Our little family is doing great and watching our little boy grow and learn more everyday is my favorite!

Princess Half Marathon, the final post!

This is it, the last post of 1/2 Marathon weekend. After this we can move onto current events!

So let’s get right into it! I was a bit worried after the 10k because I had worn mini shorts under my running skirt, but with how humid it was my body glide wore off and I had such bad chaffing on my thighs from the shorts. Thankfully for the half I wore capris and a red shirt, there was no chaffing and I was super comfortable (aside from the heat).  I was dressed as Ariel, sadly I don’t have a photo of my outfit!

Heading to my corral, at this point the road split into two zones for corrals since there was over 25,000 people running!

As you can see this race is much larger than Tinkerbell, the 5k and 10k! The last picture is of the Magic Kingdom sign, it still takes a while from here to hit the park and get to the Castle but the sign itself is motivating!

IMG_5907 IMG_5908 IMG_5909Once in the park you head up Main St, into Tomorrow land and then through the Castle. I allowed myself to slow a bit in here to take pictures of it all, but then it was back to being serious about the race. It was a SUPER humid day and everyone was feeling that and commenting on it while on the course. I initially started the race at a 2 min to 1 min Run/Walk interval, then went down to 1 to 1 around mile 5 or 6. After I left the Castle I was able to get back to 2 to 1 for 2-3 miles, then as I hit the overpasses I got pretty tired and still worked hard but listened to my body when I needed to take it easier and when I could push myself. As you may know from the previous posts my goal was to beat last years time of 3:35 and my tinkerbell time of 3:17.

NET TIME: 3:07:38, that is 10 minutes faster than Tinkerbell and almost 30 minutes faster than last years PHM!!!! Goal met and out of my 4 Halves this was my second fastest, creeping in on my PR!!!

After the race was over I had a ton of medals! Including my Coast to Coast the pink one below.


We showered, napped and then headed to the Magic Kingdom to celebrate our last night it Florida! I was taking advantage of it all since I would be headed back to cold weather and Lauren was headed to California (lucky).

I took pictures of one ride because Little Mermaid is my Favorite Disney movie and the ride was so cute!


The race was awesome, I feel like I am making a come back! I just need to keep up training and get myself back into 9-12 minute mile territory! I will get there just take things slow and do things the right way!

Being a good mom….

I haven’t been blogging a lot, and that is apparent if you are a regular reader, but I am not going to apologize! I saw this on facebook and it couldn’t be more true for all aspects of my life right now!


Our poor little guy has been so sick! The only reason I am currently blogging is that I am at family dinner and he is being doted on by GGMA and Great Aunt Kim. So while I have taken FOREVER to post my race recaps and times from my two half marathons, the 5k and 10k that I did in January and February, know they will come and you will enjoy them! I had a lot of fun on both trips, but am SOOOO happy to be home with my little family!

So to keep your interest while I am a “lazy blogger” but again A GREAT MOM, here are some race photos.

An attempt at normalcy…..

I say attempt because with a 1.5 month old you quickly learn the best laid plans dont come to fruition unless its on the babies terms and schedule!

My plan for today:

Wake up at 8:45 am, get ready and go grocery shopping to start my weight watchers plan off right. (I rejoined last night) I want to lose my last 9 pregnancy pounds and then start in on the fat pounds I already had going on :). Then run for 45 minutes per my half marathon training plan and shower and make lunch/dinner.  Also do all of Camden’s laundry. He had a blowout on the way home from NC and good lord was it awful. Yes it is a day after we got home and you must be wondering why I didn’t wash the clothes yesterday…I’ll get to that.

What actually happened: 

Woke up with the baby at 3:30 am, 6:30 am and 8:30 am. I was exhausted after how much he wanted to eat last night so after he fell back asleep so did I until around 10:30 when he needed a diaper change.

Here is Camden around 3:30 am looking exhausted. This position is key after he eats, he burps right away and poops. Hey you do what you gotta do! Plus how tired does this kid look!?


Plus add to this the fact Dan forgot to set his alarm, luckily I woke up at around 8:11 before the baby and he was on his way.

So now I was up at 10:30, well I had to get him changed, dressed, fed and I had to pump. (I am trying to rebuild my supply after vacation but its pretty pathetic right now). Cue the baby spitting up all over his clean outfit.


Camden after a quick de-robing I noticed he had peed, because when it rains it pours. Yes I changed him and his clothes on the kitchen Island because Im not above taking the quickest route.

So after a quick change we were out the door I had to go to the post office and the grocery store. I figured a clean and well fed baby equaled one who would nap….I was wrong. The grocery store went fine until check out when he started to rev up quite a bit. Also I could only buy about a quarter of my list since the car seat took up most of the space in the carriage. I cannot wait for the day he can sit up in a cart himself in front, then I can fit everything. I got back home around 1 and started cooking. I made soup for dinner and also wanted to make lettuce wraps for lunch. I ended up eating two cold pieces of pizza from the fridge because between a cranky baby and walking the dog thats what I had time for. But I did get the soup done and stayed within weight watchers points even eating the pizza.

At this point I remembered I wanted to wash the babies clothes that were in the washer and asked myself why I didn’t do it yesterday, then I remembered.


The pink and white bottle is the baby detergent. Even with a chair I cant get it, thanks Dan for being so tall.

I called Dan to inform him of this and I think he was proud of himself. We also ended up making a deal that because Cam is so cranky we will both workout while he is sleeping with us in the basement. My treadmill is there and Dan’s trainer for his bicycle is there. Hopefully he will nap for 45 minutes straight so I can get it done!

So now dinner is done and I am feeding Camden, while we wait for daddy to get home. This has been the busiest day I have had him, in terms of trying to do errands and housework by myself, while he is cranky. I think we both did pretty well and I did get quite a few smiles from my little guy!

Now I am enjoying my baby’s company and relaxing to the scents of potato soup and scentsy. I got a new scent for October and thought its Fall lets make it smell that way.


Life is finally returning to normal and I am not so sleep deprived. Which is awesome because I go back to work in 13 days and take Camden with me….. let the new adventures begin!

Disney Princess Half Marathon Top 10…..

I am writing this at 2:20 am. Wasn’t my plan to wake up at 3 am you might ask? The answer is yes it was! But I woke up in true pregnant lady fashion at 1 am having to pee and havent been able to fall back asleep. Call it insomnia, call it jitters, call it whatever but it is what it is. Being awake and half dressed while Dan snores next to me, and I cannot justify waking him until 3 am, prompted me to make this post. 10 things about this race that I needed to share with all of you…..Here we go.

10- The number of days Dan and I have been away from home. We are having fun and all but I miss my little Finny munchkin.

9- The number of toenails I have coming into this race. This surprised me when last saturday one of my little toe nails fell off since I have NOT been training much at all. Thank you morning sickness!

8-  The number of rides I was able to go on while at Universal and Magic Kingdom. Can I just say magic Kingdom is the perfect place to go for pregnant ladies and small children, almost all the rides are do-able! This helped ease a bit of my race stress! 

7- Around the number of times I looked at this thing yesterday and got really nervous about running through it.


I am a bit concerned about completing the race in a 16 minute mile pace, but darn it I will power walk this whole thing if I have to!

6- The minimum number of times I will have to tell myself I can do this. In case you havent figured this out I don’t feel well prepared for this race. I was too sick the first 3 months of Pregnancy to adequately train but I wasn’t going to give up and not do it. So I suppose I have to keep that feeling alive today! 

5- The time I have to be in my corral by! This is the earliest race I have ever done, but also probably the most fun and rewarding. See number 2 for why. 

4- The number of miles I will run before I feel like absolute death, I did 6 a couple weeks ago but I was struggling. But hey thats what quick walk breaks are for right! 

3- Well 3:30, the cutoff time for the race. This is only 40 minutes more than my PR time. BUT if I can keep my feet moving I should be able to do it! 

2- The amount of people racing under bib 11430. So I bet by now you can tell I am freaking out about finishing. The number one thing that will keep me going today is being a hero for someone else. I always want my children to think of me as a positive role model and it will be a great story to one day tell him/her about how they ran a half marathon with me! 

1- No matter what I finish in I plan on crossing that finish line strong! I will then be number 1 to myself knowing I accomplished something I was jittery and unsure of! 

*Finally because I am sure they are both freaking out reading this, to Mom L and Mom K don’t worry I will be careful and walk a lot. I will not push myself super hard and endanger your grandchild. I do kind of love this baby already and look out for it on a daily basis! 😉

Well time to finish getting ready, wake up dan and head out!

Disney Princess Race Expo and more…

Yesterday we went to the Expo, because today we are headed to the parks for a little bit and then I am going to bed. A 3:00 am wake up will be hard! The race gun goes off at 5:35 am.

Anyway back to the expo. It was very crowded, but the lines were much better when I went around 2 pm, then I had heard they were earlier in the day! People are super crazy over anything that says Disney and Disney knows it! They had so many things for sale. While I did buy things at the expo, it was more things to help me on race day and nothing Disney.

First we went and picked up my bib, it was very good with over 34,000 people running this race they had it set up in groups by bib numbers. No line when I got there and I was able to get it right away!


#1- Yes my bib says Princess Alexandra bet you didn’t know I was an “official” Disney Princess ;).

#2- I was surprised I was not put into the last corral for this race. The reason being was they made you put in your projected finish time, and a previous race that supported that. I think when I signed up (Pre- Baby K) I put in 2:30, my real goal was 2:15. My previous race time as you know was 2:53. They would accept 2:45 at the most, so I was a bit surprised, but glad as this gives me a little more course time to get things done!!! My goal now is 3:00.I plan on walking a lot and not taking chances with my precious cargo in my tummy. I thought I was put into the last one until I saw ladies with bibs that said H.

After my bib pick up we had to pick up Dan’s Cheer Squad stuff. I will post a picture of him in his shirt tomorrow. He has a wristband and gets to relax and be super comfy all race time in a tent with amenities. I am going to the race retreat quickly before the race, Dan cant go in. I will grab some food, hopefully a water bottle and be good to go before race time!

After pick ups it was time to walk around the expo. Sorry no pictures of this, even though there were no bib lines, there were easily still 8,000 people in the expo at this time and it was kind of a small area for that!

Here is what I got/bought:


In the bag I was given, the backpack, t-shirt, bib, safety pins and brochures which you didnt need to see. I bought the interval timer as I run 3-1 intervals and I hate staring at my watch to do it and not over exert myself. This thing buzzes against your skin when an interval ends Awesome! I also bought those shorts, I forgot to pack my spandex/bet they dont fit right now so these ones will be great and together with body glide will stop chaffing! Finally the stick! I wasnt about to lug my foam roller down here so I bought a stick at the expo. One of my calves has been crazy tight and making me sad. Last night Dan rolled out my legs and back, I know I am spoiled!

Then it was back to the hotel where we had more animals show up outside our window because it was feeding time! We saw a zebra in the distance but it was a bit too far for us!

Which was shocking because look how short the one on the tree looks here!



Then two very hungry things that look like deer, sorry I don’t know any names!

Then we headed to the buffet here for dinner.

My Dinner: Pita bread, hummus, soup, cabbage, chicken, mac and cheese and a cornbread muffin!

Dessert: a lot of grapes and pineapple!

It was very good and we were happy with the choice to eat there!

Okay well time to get ready then off to the parks! Hope everyone back home is having a nice day, even with all the snow!!!

Bet you thought I was going to say its Sunday morning, instead of Saturday night but nope, here we are on our last day in North Carolina. This might be kind of a long post, or a two parter because I have everything from the road trip to now to discuss and show in photos!!!

Oh yea, before I get started I have to say Thursday was Valentine’s day and I woke up to this!


Flowers, chocolate and breakfast!!!! We had frozen meals since we would be traveling and what was the point of buying stuff that would go bad?

You know someone loves you when they get one bowl with Bacon, eggs, cheese, and potatoes for him and one with sausage for me. He knows the way to my heart is breakfast sausage and ferrero candies! He’s a keeper!

For Dan’s gifts were a heart filled with mini reeses cups, a card and a $25.00 gift card. I wanted it to be for home depot but you cant get them in that amount anywhere but home depot. So he can use it anywhere.

The final part of his gift as this….


Half a Turkey club and half a Chicken Club from Rein’s Deli, if you live in our area you know how DELICIOUS these are! We always get one of each sandwich and share them….totally fun to have someone that loves the same foods you do. That was you always get two yummy things!

The road trip: 

Dan and I left home at 9:30pm on Thursday Night and we were on our way to the great adventure ahead of us!


We made great time through CT, then we hit NY. New York was an experience, I mean it usually is, but we got there around 11:30 am. We left NYC at almost 1 am. Here is what happened.

We hit a dead stop in traffic because the road was closed to one lane in one area, due to construction.


I had to take a picture of this sign because people are stubborn drivers. It must have told you this 100 times before you actually got to the exit that if you were heading to New Jersey stay to the left. But people didn’t listen and thus Traffic!

But the worst part and my nightmare was this situation for 40 minutes.


Welcome to the George Washington Bridge. I hate bridges that are super high, and over water. This one is both, combine that with the fact that the whole bridge (bottom level) was closed due to an accident and we were swinging back and forth in the wind. The whole car was shaking and closing my eyes made it worse. Luckily Dan was there to calm me a little bit.

We finally got to New Jersey and then things got just as strange. This time for around 20 minutes we had a police led escort down the New Jersey turnpike at 1:30 am. We went 10-15 mph behind a three lane length group of cop cars. Dan thought it was cool since we were right in front of it. I did not get a picture sorry!

The rest of the states were good to go and we got to North Carolina at around 11:30am-Noon.

REUNITED with my Best Friend Since I was born….

IMG_1693This is Lindsey my BFF, Me and Michelle her sister and my other lifelong BFF at my wedding. We went to try on her wedding dress as soon as I got there and clearly I cannot post THAT picture!!!!! So here is one from the last time we were all together and all dressed up. Lindsey lives in NC, me in CT and Michelle in Seattle! So when we get together it is always a good time, and always like no time has passed.

After the dress fitting Dan met up with us and we ate at a restaurant called Mellow Mushroom. It had an Alice in Wonderland theme and is the coolest pizza place I have ever been to! North Carolina compared to the east coast has some pretty crappy pizza! But this place was amazing! The crust was even super delicious. I got a small Red Potato Pizza, it came with bacon, sour cream and drizzled with spicy ranch. I shared it with Dan who got a sandwich.


Two pieces of the four piece small was more than enough for me and Baby K! Thanks Debbie for lunch (L and M’s Mom).

Later that night we all had dinner. My parents are here as well as they are best friends with L & M’s parents. Their grandfather brought spaghetti sauce that was so delicious. I was a stuffed lady and went to bed happy!

That was our day and thus ends this post. Because if I got into last night (Saturday) this post would go on forever!!!

Running and Researching

So today I am going back to running! SO EXCITED!!!! I spent most of yesterday sleeping due to trying to kick this cold out and I am happy to say it is almost gone.

I am a bit nervous though, as my half marathon is 1 month and a few weeks away and my running has decreased due to the sickness and pregnancy. If you read the blog regularly you know I am a big researcher so this was no different. My doctor cleared me to do it, because that of course is the first step in doing anything super physical while pregnant.

The next step for me was to google training plans. I think my longest run before my last half was 8-9 miles and it wasnt so bad. But I also was not 4 months pregnant during that, like i will be for this! Off to google I went, where I found a bunch of other bloggers like me who are not professional runners that have done this. Their levels ranged from people who run many halves to people that it was their second like me.

Many of their plans for race day are like mine:

1.) Ask your doctor: I talked to him about this at our appointment on Friday, he seemed a little weary as I would be further along But I think he also forgot we had talked about this before and I had been running before pregnancy. After I reminded him he was on board and trying to reassure Dan (who DOES NOT want me to do it) that exercise is great for pregnancy and will make everything from the carrying to delivery easier.

2.) Enjoy the race: I will be running through Disney in the Princess Half! There are so many things to see while running and characters along the course. I had already planned on carrying my phone through the race to take pictures of things, but not wait in the lines for character pictures.

3.) Pace it out: Clearly I am not trying for a PR here. My first half was 2:53:08, the problem I had with the first one was the last couple miles my legs started to tense  up. This time I will train properly, especially as I will be laid off in February and have the time to do long runs Sunday if I choose and recover Mondays. The key here is running the distance slowly but still getting it done, and getting my body used to the distance with the extra stress of pregnancy.

4.) Plan everything: Plan and journal it all! How I feel that day, how the run went, what I ate and if I am hydrated. Having a log of this for each run and comparing to what I do before race day will be a great help to my success here!

5.) Let everyone know: by this point I will have a bit of a bump and it should be obvious but just in case it isn’t I am looking into getting one of these for race day.

6.) Run Intervals: Intervals are kind of my favorite, they helped greatly during the first half and will be even more key this race. By doing 3-1 run walk schedule I will be able to keep my pace a bit slower and keep my heart rate and the babies heart rate even. That way everyone is happy! Especially Dan when we cross the finish line and my first and last half of 2013 is over :).

I just wanted to share with everyone that the results of the mitten run were posted and my official time was based off chip time not gun time. Meaning I did better than I thought!!!

I dont know how to copy things from websites so they are all neat and pretty so this is what we are going to have. As you can see my OFFICIAL TIME was 34:53! That makes me even happier as it is only 17 seconds away from my (recorded) PR! I did better at Color Me Rad than any other race, but had no watch to actually tell!
In other news I am starting a new feature for the holiday season. You know the song 12 days of Christmas? Well I am making it 25 because each day Dan gives me a gift just by being with me! Some may be sweet while others are sarcastic, but each new day brings something new that helps or teaches us as we go!
So on the 1st Day of Christmas my Daniel gave to me:

Sorry it is sideways WordPress changed their upload process and I cannot figure out how to rotate the image. Anyway some delicious wine and anything Hello Kitty are in fact the way to my heart. And while Dan did not give me this gift, him GQing it up with the bag made my day!!!
On the Second Day of Christmas my Daniel gave to me:

While I was napping after work Dan had cleaned my car and attached my sticker I ordered online.

My sticker! So excited to have it on finally and no I dont feel like less of a runner because of it and I do not care what anyone thinks of it! This is always a topic of debate in the running forums!
